Study in Poland from Pakistan
Checked October 9, 2026 against official sources
Poland attracts Pakistani students with internationally recognised degrees at a lower cost than most of the European Union, and a wide choice of programmes taught in English. It is home to some of Europe's oldest universities, such as the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, alongside modern technical and medical schools. As a Schengen country, a Polish long-term visa also allows short trips around much of Europe, and full-time students can take up part-time work without a separate work permit.
Why Pakistani students choose Poland
- Almost 380 public and private higher education institutions, all following the Bologna system
- Programmes available in English as well as Polish, with English-taught studies averaging about EUR 3,000 a year
- Full-time students holding a student visa or temporary residence permit do not need a work permit
- Graduates of full-time programmes at Polish universities can work without a work permit
- Student living costs can start from around PLN 1,500 (about EUR 330) a month
- A long-term D visa lets you travel in the Schengen area for up to 90 days in any 180-day period

Student visa and English
- Foreign students may apply to any Polish university and study in Polish or English; English-taught programmes are widely offered and usually require proof of English proficiency set by each university.
- Health insurance for the whole stay is required for the visa; non-EU students can buy their own international policy or sign a voluntary agreement with the National Health Fund (NFZ), which costs about EUR 15 a month.
Steps to study in Poland
Frequently asked questions
Can I study in Poland without IELTS?
There is no single national English test rule. Each Polish university sets its own admission requirements and usually asks for a certificate confirming your language level. Some universities may accept other proof of English, so check the admission rules of your chosen university on study.gov.pl's Studyfinder or contact its Admissions Office directly.
Is Poland cheap for Pakistani students?
Poland is relatively affordable for the EU. Study in Poland says English-taught programmes cost about EUR 3,000 a year on average, and student living costs can start from about PLN 1,500 a month depending on the city. For the visa you must also show PLN 776 per month of stay plus PLN 2,500 for return travel.
Can I work while studying in Poland?
Yes. Full-time students who hold a Polish student visa or temporary residence permit do not need a work permit, and no fixed weekly hour limit is stated. Study in Poland reminds students that their studies remain the main purpose of their stay, so work should fit around classes.
Where do Pakistani students apply for a Polish student visa?
At the Embassy of Poland in Islamabad, in person, after booking an appointment in the study category through the official e-konsulat system. The embassy warns applicants not to use other websites claiming to sell appointments and to be cautious of agents charging money to prepare visa documents.
