Questions
What is the Behbood Savings Certificate profit rate now?
Behbood Savings Certificates pay 12.96% a year from 21 October 2026, which is Rs 1,080 a month on every Rs 100,000. The same rate applies to the Pensioners' Benefit Account and the Shuhada Family Welfare Account.
Is tax deducted on National Savings profit?
Withholding tax of 15% for filers and 30% for non-filers is deducted from the profit of most schemes. No tax is withheld on Behbood Savings Certificates, the Pensioners' Benefit Account and the Shuhada Family Welfare Account; their profit is taxed at a reduced rate under the Second Schedule of the Income Tax Ordinance.
Which National Savings scheme gives the highest profit?
Right now the highest monthly rate is 12.96% (Behbood, Pensioners and Shuhada, for those who qualify). For everyone else, Regular Income Certificates pay 12.12% monthly, Special Savings 12% to 12.8% every six months, and Short Term certificates up to 11.72% for one year.
How often do the rates change?
The Finance Division revises National Savings rates in line with market yields and the State Bank policy rate, often several times a year. New rates apply to new investments; for most certificates, profit on existing ones is paid at the rate fixed when you invested.
Is Zakat deducted?
Zakat at 2.5% is deducted on the 1st of Ramadan from Defence Savings Certificates, Special Savings, the Savings Account and Sarwa Islamic Savings Account, unless you file a Zakat exemption declaration (CZ-50). Behbood, Pensioners', Shuhada, Regular Income and Short Term certificates are exempt.
