OGRA now works out petrol and diesel prices every working day, from a seven-working-day average of international (Platts) prices and the dollar rate, instead of the old fortnightly revision on the 1st and 16th.
How much tax is in the petrol price?
Petrol and diesel carry a petroleum levy of Rs 80 and a climate support levy of Rs 5 per litre; they are exempt from sales tax. The rest is the product cost, freight and dealer and oil company margins.
How do I work out my fuel cost?
Divide the distance by your vehicle's mileage (km per litre) to get litres, then multiply by the price. A 1300cc car doing 12 km per litre over 40 km a day uses about 3.3 litres, which is about Rs 1,260 a day at today's price.
