Frequently asked questions

Is studying in Czechia free for Pakistani students?

Yes, if you study in Czech. Public and state universities offer tuition-free degrees taught in Czech regardless of nationality, but many require at least B2-level Czech. English-taught programmes charge tuition fees set by each university. A one-year Czech language or foundation course can prepare you for free study.

Can I study in Czechia without IELTS?

There is no single national rule. For English-taught programmes, universities usually require proof of English proficiency, but the accepted tests and minimum levels are set by each university and programme. Check the admission page of your chosen programme or contact its admissions office.

How much money must I show for a Czech student visa?

The Ministry of the Interior asks for 15 times the monthly subsistence minimum plus twice that amount for each further month of stay. With a subsistence minimum of CZK 3,130, a one-year stay requires CZK 115,810. A scholarship or a sponsor's commitment can be used as proof instead.

Can I stay in Czechia after graduation?

Yes. Graduates can apply for a long-term residence permit to seek employment or start a business, allowing a stay of up to 9 months. With a job offer you can apply for an Employee Card, or an EU Blue Card for highly qualified jobs that meet the salary threshold.

Can my family join me?

Your spouse or children can apply for a long-term visa or residence permit for family reunification. The family must show a regular and stable monthly income, so check the detailed rules on the Ministry of the Interior's Information Portal for Foreigners (ipc.gov.cz) before applying.
