Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS)

MIS funds high-achieving international students for master's and PhD study at Malaysian universities. It pays tuition and a monthly living allowance, and Commonwealth countries (including Pakistan) are among the eligible nationalities.

What it covers

  • Tuition fees for the entire sponsorship period
  • Monthly living allowance of RM 1,500 (paid every four months)

Who can apply

  • A citizen of an eligible country. The 2026 guidelines include Commonwealth countries, which covers Pakistan.
  • Master's: not older than 40, with a bachelor's CGPA of 3.00 / upper second class or higher.
  • PhD: not older than 45, with a master's CGPA of 3.00 or excellent results.
  • English: IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 550 (paper-based) or equivalent, or a previous degree taught in English.
  • A study field from the approved list (no medicine, nursing or pharmacy).

Note: applicants who already hold an offer from a Malaysian university, or are already studying there, should include the admission letter. Research master's and PhD applicants must also send a research proposal of at least 1,000 words.

How to apply

  1. Read the current MIS guidelines on the MOHE scholarship portal.
  2. Create an account on the MIS online application system.
  3. Fill in the application form and upload the required documents as PDFs.
  4. Submit before the call closes. Shortlisted candidates are contacted by MOHE.
  5. Check the portal to see your application result.

  • Certified passport copy (valid at least 6 months)
  • Certified academic transcripts
  • English proficiency result or medium-of-instruction letter
  • Two recommendation letters
  • Malaysian university admission letter (if any)
  • CV
  • Research proposal of at least 1,000 words (research master's and PhD)
