These are master's scholarships that the CSC and selected UK universities fund together, for students from lower-income Commonwealth countries. You apply for a listed course and for the scholarship.

What it covers

  • Approved tuition fees
  • Return airfare to the UK
  • Stipend (2026/27 rate: £1,452 per month, or £1,781 in the London metropolitan area)
  • Warm clothing allowance, where applicable
  • Thesis grant, where applicable
  • Study travel grant
  • Contribution towards a mandatory TB test
  • Child allowance for widowed, divorced or single-parent scholars

Who can apply

  • A citizen of, or refugee in, an eligible Commonwealth country (Pakistan is listed) and permanently resident there.
  • A 2:1 first degree, or a lower second plus a relevant postgraduate qualification, by the start of the course.
  • Not studied or worked for more than one academic year in a high-income country.
  • Unable to afford UK study without the scholarship.
  • Admission to an approved master's course at a participating UK university.
  • All supporting documents in the required format.

Tip for Pakistani applicants: this scheme does not go through HEC. You apply to a participating UK university and through CSC Central. Because of the high-income-country rule, candidates who have already studied abroad for over a year should check carefully before applying.

How to apply

  1. Check the list of participating universities and courses when the next call opens.
  2. Apply for admission to your chosen course.
  3. Submit the scholarship application on CSC Central and follow any extra steps your university sets.
  4. Universities shortlist candidates, and the CSC confirms awards.
  5. Keep your university application number handy, as CSC Central asks for it.

  • Full transcripts of higher education qualifications
  • References from at least two people
