Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD Pakistan)

Global UGRAD sends Pakistani undergraduates to a U.S. university for one semester of non-degree study, cultural exchange and leadership development. Students from disadvantaged backgrounds and remote areas, women, minorities and people with disabilities are especially encouraged.

Deadline: USEFP lists the programme as closed; the last deadline shown is 25 September 2024. Announcements usually come in September/October.

Who can apply

  • Pakistani citizens aged 18-24 by the deadline.
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's programme at a Pakistani college or university, in the 14th year of education (2nd year / 3rd-4th semester of the bachelor's).
  • Committed to returning to your home university to finish your degree.
  • Medical students can apply in their 2nd year.
  • Not eligible: dual U.S./Pakistani nationals or U.S. permanent residents; people who have been to the U.S. on a J-visa or a U.S. government-funded grant; Fulbright/State Department/USAID staff and their relatives.

How to apply

  1. Watch the USEFP website for the announcement (usually September/October).
  2. Create an account and fill in the online application form.
  3. Upload transcripts, a personal statement and certificates.
  4. Shortlisted students are interviewed. Selected students take the TOEFL/Duolingo test arranged by USEFP.
  5. There is no application fee.
  6. Keep your application ID from the confirmation email.

  • Current and previous academic transcripts (with CGPA)
  • Personal statement
  • Certificates for extracurricular activities from the last 5 years
  • Grading-scale explanation if CGPA is not on the transcript
  • Reference letters and university NOC (selected candidates only)
