Global Korea Scholarship for Graduate Degrees (GKS-G)

GKS-G is the Korean government's scholarship for master's and doctoral degrees at Korean universities. It includes Korean language training. Applicants go through an Embassy track or a University track.

What it covers

  • One year of Korean language training
  • Full scholarship package for the degree (tuition, allowance and travel as set in the annual guidelines)

Who can apply

  • You and both parents must hold non-Korean citizenship of a GKS-designated country.
  • Under 40 years of age.
  • Hold (or be about to hold) a bachelor's degree for master's study, or a master's for PhD study.
  • Average GPA of at least 80%.
  • Previous Korean government degree scholars are generally not eligible.

Tracks: the Embassy track (General, Overseas Korean and Adoptee) is handled by the Korean Embassy in Pakistan. The University track (General, R-GKS, Research, specialised programmes) is handled by Korean universities. You may apply to only one track and one programme per year.

How to apply

  1. Read the GKS-G guidelines when they are announced in February.
  2. Choose the Embassy track (through the Korean Embassy in Pakistan) or the University track (through a Korean university).
  3. Prepare apostilled documents, a personal statement and a study plan.
  4. Submit between February and March. Reviews run April-June and final results come in June.
