Leiden University Excellence Scholarship (LExS)

Open to Pakistani applicants, who hold a non-EEA/non-EFTA passport.

• You are applying for a full-time Leiden Master's programme starting in September (February intakes and Leiden Law School LLM (non-advanced) and MSc programmes are excluded).
• You are not eligible for Dutch student finance.
• You have excellent academic results in a relevant previous programme; as a guide, roughly the top 10% of graduates (proof of ranking is not required).
• You do not already hold a Leiden Master's degree (some exceptions for Advanced LLMs).
• You cannot combine it with another full scholarship from an external provider.

The award is not a full scholarship; you must still show proof of sufficient funds for your Dutch residence permit.

1. Apply online for admission to a Leiden Master's programme and pay the application fee (start early, it can take up to 3 working days).
2. After submitting, return to the Apply screen and open the Scholarships section.
3. Select the LExS and upload a motivation letter (PDF, max. 500 words).
4. Submit before the LExS deadline; late or edited applications are not accepted.
5. Results are emailed before the end of March.
