York University International Entrance Scholarships

International students applying to York are considered automatically for entrance awards worth CAD 2,500 to CAD 37,500, based on their final admission average. York also runs the application-based President's International Scholarship of Excellence worth CAD 180,000.

Deadline: Entrance scholarships are automatic. The President's International Scholarship of Excellence has a student deadline of 27 January 2027 and a nominee deadline of 4 February 2027.

What it covers

  • York International Scholarship of Distinction: CAD 15,000 in year 1 and CAD 7,500 in years 2-4 (up to CAD 37,500)
  • York International Merit Award: CAD 10,000 in year 1 and CAD 5,000 in years 2-4 (up to CAD 25,000)
  • York International Entrance Award: CAD 5,000 one-time
  • York International Transfer Award: CAD 2,500 one-time
  • 4-year on-campus housing guarantee for direct-entry international students

Who can apply

Open to international students (including Pakistanis) enrolled full-time in a York undergraduate programme and paying international tuition.

  • Distinction: high school average of 90%+ or equivalent (Computer Science, Cybersecurity and Engineering are excluded, with a limited exception).
  • Merit: 80-89.9%.
  • Entrance Award: 75-79.9%.
  • Transfer Award: transfer students with 24+ credits and 75%+.
  • To keep renewable awards, complete at least 24 York credits a year with a GPA of 7.5 (B+).

These figures are for 2026/27 entry; York publishes the scheme year by year.

How to apply

  1. Apply for undergraduate admission to York as an international student.
  2. No scholarship application is needed; your final admission average decides the award.
  3. Accept your offer by the deadline in your offer letter to keep the scholarship.
  4. For the separate President's International Scholarship of Excellence, submit the application by 27 January 2027 (school nomination by 4 February 2027).
