University of Helsinki Scholarship Programme (tuition fee waivers)

The University of Helsinki offers 50% and 100% tuition fee waivers to excellent fee-paying Master's students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland. Most awards are 50% waivers, last two years and require full-time study.

What it covers

  • 50% or 100% tuition fee waiver for two years (most awards are 50%)

Who can apply

Pakistani citizens are fee-liable and therefore eligible.

  • You are eligible for the University of Helsinki Master's programme you apply to.
  • You are liable for tuition fees (non-EU/EEA citizens without permanent residence in Finland).
  • You meet entry visa and residence permit requirements.
  • You have excellent results in previous studies and can show this in your application.

Waivers are awarded after an academic overall assessment of your previous performance, motivation and the grounds you give. You must earn at least 55 ECTS a year to keep it. Living costs are not covered.

How to apply

  1. Choose a Master's programme and read its application instructions.
  2. Apply for the programme and select the 50% or 100% waiver category in the same application form.
  3. Submit all required attachments.
  4. The programme assesses your application; you receive the waiver result in your acceptance email and must sign the scholarship agreement.
