The Faculty of Science at the University of Geneva awards Excellence Fellowships of CHF 10,000 to 15,000 a year to outstanding students starting a science Master's. It is open to students from any university who rank among the best in their year.

Deadline: Closed for 2026; last deadline was 28 February 2026. Online application usually opens in early January.

What it covers

Grant of CHF 10,000 to CHF 15,000 per year (no teaching duties)
Renewed for the regular length of the Master's if first-semester results are good

Who can apply

The fellowship is open to students regardless of home university, so Pakistani graduates can apply.

You have completed, or are completing, a very good Bachelor's degree and are among the best in your year (top 10%).
You meet the admission criteria of the Master of Science you choose.
You have started the UNIGE Master's registration process.
You have not already started a Master's at the Faculty of Science.

Programmes are taught in English, or in English and French, depending on the Master's.

How to apply

Register for your chosen Master's through the UNIGE admissions office.
Register on the fellowship online form (opens early January) to receive a personal link.
Upload one single PDF with all required documents, in English or French.
Submit before the deadline (28 February in the 2026 cycle); incomplete files are not considered.

CV (max. 2 pages)
Bachelor's transcript with all grades
Motivation letter
Two reference letters from professors
Proof of UNIGE registration (email or UNIGE card)
Optional: GRE, TOEFL or other test results
