These Swiss government scholarships fund early-career researchers who hold a master's degree. For Pakistan they cover a research fellowship or a PhD at a Swiss university. Pakistani candidates apply through the Embassy of Switzerland in Pakistan.

What it covers

  • Monthly scholarship of CHF 2,450
  • Health insurance (for non-EU/EFTA scholars)
  • One-time CHF 600 grant for rental deposit
  • Half-Fare Travelcard
  • Return flight allowance (non-EU/EFTA countries)

Who can apply

  • Available to Pakistani nationals as a Research Fellowship or PhD scholarship.
  • Born after 31 December 1991 (2027-28 round).
  • A master's degree or equivalent completed by 31 July 2027 (ETH Zurich: 30 June 2027).
  • A research proposal and the agreement of a host professor at a Swiss university.
  • Research fellowship: 6-12 months, no extension. PhD: 12 months, renewable up to 36 months.

For Pakistan the country sheet lists only research fellowships and PhD scholarships (no arts scholarship). Your application must be complete when submitted, and the Embassy pre-selects candidates before FCS makes the final decision.

How to apply

  1. Find a Swiss host professor who will supervise your research.
  2. Prepare your research proposal and documents.
  3. Check eligibility and apply online through the GO ESKAS portal.
  4. Follow the Embassy of Switzerland in Pakistan's instructions and submit by 31 October 2026.
  5. The Embassy pre-selects candidates, and FCS makes the final choice.
