Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship

Stipendium Hungaricum is Hungary's government scholarship for bachelor's, master's, one-tier master's, doctoral and partial studies. Pakistan is a partner country, and HEC nominates candidates after a written test.

Deadline: Closed for 2026/27; the last deadline was 15 January 2026 (2 pm CET). The call usually opens in autumn with a mid-January deadline.

What it covers

  • Tuition-free education
  • Monthly stipend of HUF 43,700 (bachelor's/master's) for 12 months a year
  • Doctoral stipend of HUF 140,000 per month (first 4 semesters) and HUF 180,000 (second 4 semesters)
  • Free dormitory place or HUF 40,000 per month towards accommodation
  • Health care and supplementary medical insurance up to HUF 65,000 per year

Who can apply

  • Pakistani citizen: Pakistan is a sending partner, and HEC is the nominating authority.
  • Levels open to Pakistanis: full-degree bachelor's, master's, one-tier master's and doctoral studies, plus partial studies. Fields include engineering, IT, natural sciences, economics, health and more.
  • Meet the admission requirements of the Hungarian university and programme.
  • Pass HEC's written test, which HEC uses to decide nominations.
  • Applying on both the Hungarian and HEC portals is compulsory, by the same deadline.

Important: an application missing from either the Hungarian or the HEC portal is not considered. Check that HEC recognises your chosen degree field, and prepare the mandatory medical certificate in the official template.

How to apply

  1. Choose up to the allowed number of programmes on the Stipendium Hungaricum site.
  2. Apply online at apply.stipendiumhungaricum.hu.
  3. Apply on the HEC scholarship portal (scholarship.hec.gov.pk) as well.
  4. Register for HEC's written test at etc.hec.gov.pk.
  5. Submit both applications by the deadline. HEC nominates candidates, and the universities run entrance exams and interviews.
