NUS's main scholarship for research students covers full tuition and a monthly stipend for PhD and Master's (Research) study. It is open to all international students, who must do teaching or research assistance under the Graduate Assistantship Programme.

Deadline: Deadlines are set by each faculty for the August (Semester 1) and January (Semester 2) intakes.

What it covers

Full tuition fee waiver
Monthly stipend for international PhD students of SGD 3,000, plus SGD 500 after passing the PhD Qualifying Examination
Monthly stipend for international Master's (Research) students of SGD 2,900

Who can apply

Open to all international students, including Pakistanis.

Undergraduate degree with at least Second Class Honours (Upper) / Honours (Distinction) or equivalent.
Admission to a full-time PhD or Master's by research at NUS.
Required: good GPA, statement of purpose, recommendation letters and CV. Optional but helpful: GRE, publications, and TOEFL/IELTS for non-native speakers.
International scholars must meet Graduate Assistantship Programme duties; there is no bond.
Typical award: 4 years for PhD, 2 years for Master's; renewed on satisfactory progress.

Scholars may not take other employment or hold another scholarship without NUS approval.
