HBKU in Doha gives selected graduate students tuition waivers (100% for PhDs) and, for full-time students serving as research or teaching assistants, a monthly stipend. International students also get return airfare. You are considered during admission, with no separate application.

What it covers

Tuition waiver: 100% for PhD, 75% for STEM MS, 60% for SHAPE MS/MA and JD
Monthly stipend for international PhD students of QAR 9,000 (up to 45 months)
Monthly stipend for international Master's students of QAR 7,000 (up to 21 months)
One round-trip airfare for international students

Who can apply

Open to international graduate applicants, including Pakistanis.

Awards depend on merit or need and on available funds; they are not guaranteed.
Stipends go to full-time students who work as research assistants (10 hours/week) and/or teaching assistants.
Full-time working professionals, and part-time workers above 40% of full-time hours, are not eligible for stipends.
Students pay for their own housing from the stipend or personal funds.
Scholarships are reviewed each year based on progress.

Tuition waivers are standard across HBKU; self-sponsored students can only get a need-based discounted rate.

How to apply

Choose an HBKU graduate programme and check its requirements.
Submit the online graduate admission application (opens 1 October 2026).
International applicants must apply by 1 February 2027.
No separate scholarship application is needed; funding is decided during admission.
If admitted with funding, read the RA/TA conditions attached to your stipend.
Plan for housing costs, which you pay yourself.
