France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship Program

Eiffel scholarships help French universities attract top foreign students to their master's and PhD programmes. Students cannot apply themselves: the French institution nominates them.

Deadline: 2026 campaign: the call opened 1 October 2025 and institutions had to submit files by 8 January 2026. The 2027 campaign usually follows the same pattern.

Who can apply

  • A foreign (non-French) student. Pakistani nationals can be nominated.
  • Master's level: up to 29 years old. PhD level: up to 35 years old.
  • Enrolling in a master's or PhD in one of the priority fields at a French higher education institution.
  • An outstanding academic profile, since the programme targets future decision-makers.
  • You must be put forward by the French institution. Direct student applications are not accepted.

Tip: contact the international relations office of your chosen French university well before its internal deadline, which is usually in the autumn, before the January national deadline.

How to apply

  1. Apply for admission to a French master's or PhD programme.
  2. Ask the institution's international relations office to nominate you for Eiffel.
  3. The institution prepares and submits your file to Campus France by the national deadline (early January).
  4. Results are published from late March.
  5. Keep in touch with the university for the outcome.
