Passport & identity · Checked October 9, 2026 against the official source

The Family Registration Certificate (FRC) is a NADRA document that records your family composition (parents and siblings, or spouse and children). NADRA notes it is generally used for immigration and visa processing, such as family, spouse and dependant visas.

Processing timeExecutive: 1 day (only the Executive category is listed for FRC).
Where to applyAt NADRA Registration Centres; NADRA documents can then be attested directly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs if required.

Step by step

  1. Make sure all family members who should appear are registered with NADRA and have a 13-digit ID number (CRC, Juvenile Card, CNIC, NICOP or POC). A child born abroad must first get a CRC, Juvenile Card or NICOP.
  2. Choose the FRC type: by Birth (parents and siblings), by Marriage (spouse and children), by Adoption, or both (alpha and beta family).
  3. Apply at a NADRA Registration Centre with your 13-digit ID number.
  4. Pay the Executive fee for the type you selected.
  5. Collect the FRC; NADRA lists a 1-day Executive timeline.
  6. If the visa authority needs it legalised, have the FRC attested / apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Frequently asked questions

Which FRC should I get for a spouse visa?

An FRC by Marriage shows your spouse and children, which is what spouse and dependant visa applications usually rely on. An FRC by Birth shows your parents and siblings. If you need both, NADRA offers a combined certificate covering both families at a higher fee.

Why is my child not showing on my FRC?

Every family member must be registered with NADRA first. NADRA states that a child born abroad must get a CRC, Juvenile Card or NICOP before appearing on the parents' FRC. Register the child, then apply for a fresh FRC.

Can I get the FRC attested for use abroad?

Yes. MOFA says documents issued by NADRA are attested directly by its office, and Pakistan now issues apostilles for countries that are party to the Apostille Convention. Check whether your destination wants an apostille or embassy legalisation.
