Frequently asked questions

Is a CRC needed for a child's passport?

Yes. NADRA states that a valid CRC with picture (B-Form) or a Juvenile Card is required when applying for a Pakistani passport for a child under 18. DGIP accepts a CRC or FRC for children under 10, and an updated CRC with fingerprints and photo, or a Juvenile Card, from age 10.

Does the CRC expire?

Yes. A CRC expires when the child reaches 3, 10 and 18 years of age, and must be updated with new biometrics at each stage. At 18 the child moves on to a CNIC, which is free in the Normal category for first-time applicants.

Can a child born abroad get a CRC?

Yes. Children born outside Pakistan can get a CRC on the basis of an S-1 form or the foreign birth certificate. Parents living abroad can apply at a NADRA centre abroad, a Pakistan Mission, or through the Pak-ID app.
