ITU is a public technical university in Istanbul focused on engineering, architecture, maritime studies and related sciences. Programmes are taught either 100% in English or at least 30% in English. Students who do not submit an accepted English score take a one-year English preparatory programme.

English requirementIELTS is not listed. To skip English prep (undergraduate): ITU Proficiency 60/100, TOEFL iBT 72 (before 21 Jan 2026) or 4.0 (new scale), or PTE Academic 59 (from 2026-27). Thesis and non-thesis master's: TOEFL iBT 78 (before 26 Jan 2026) or 4.0, or PTE 67 (from 2026-27). TOEFL iBT and PTE must be taken at test centres in state universities. Scores are valid for 2 years.
