There is no separate market rate for white gold in Pakistan. White gold is normal gold mixed with white metals such as palladium, nickel or silver, and usually coated with rhodium to make it bright white. So it is priced from the rate of gold of the same karat, plus making charges. Most white gold jewellery is 18 karat. Why "24 karat white gold" does not exist
Pure gold (24K) is yellow and very soft. To make it white, jewellers must mix in other metals. Once other metals are added, the gold is no longer 24K. That is why white gold is sold in lower karats:
- 18K (75% gold) – the most common for rings, bands and diamond settings.
- 14K (58.5% gold) – cheaper and harder, more common in imported pieces.
- 21K (87.5% gold) – made by some local jewellers, but less common and softer.
Any listing that quotes a "24 karat white gold" rate is wrong.
Gold value by karat (22 October 2026)
The base rate below is the 24K rate shared by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association and reported by Business Recorder on 22 October 2026. Lower karats are worked out with a simple formula: karat ÷ 24 × 24K rate. One tola is 11.6638 grams.

These are calculated values of the gold only. Real shop rates for 21K, 18K and 14K can be slightly different, because each jeweller sets its own rate around the sarafa price.
Local gold prices follow the international gold price in dollars and the rupee's exchange rate. If the rupee weakens, gold gets more expensive in Pakistan even when world prices are flat. You can follow the USD to PKR rate to see one side of this.
How a white gold price is built
When a jeweller quotes a price for a white gold ring or set, it usually has three parts:
- Gold value – the weight of the piece multiplied by the day's rate for its karat.
- Making charges (banwai) – labour and design. These are charged per gram, per tola or as a fixed amount, and vary a lot between shops and designs.
- Rhodium plating and stones – plating is often included in the making charge. Diamonds or other stones are priced separately.
Worked example
Say you buy an 18K white gold ring that weighs 5 grams, on the 22 October 2026 rate.
- Gold value: 5 g × Rs27,748 = about Rs138,742.
- Making charges: suppose the jeweller asks Rs3,000 per gram (an example figure only, not a market rate) = Rs15,000.
- Total before stones: about Rs153,742.
If you sell the ring later, you will be paid for the gold content only. Making charges and plating are not paid back. Most jewellers also cut a deduction from the gold value when buying back, so ask about this before you buy.

If resale value matters to you, white gold is easier to sell in Pakistan than platinum, because every sarafa market buys gold.
How to check purity
- Look for a stamp inside the ring or on the clasp. 750 means 18K, 585 means 14K and 875 means 21K.
- Get a written bill showing karat, gross weight, stone weight and making charges separately.
- Test it at a gold testing lab or a trusted sarafa shop if you are unsure. A stamp alone can be faked.
- Weigh without stones. Ask for the net gold weight, since stones are not paid for as gold when you sell.
Buying tips
- Check the day's gold rate before going to the market, so you can compare quotes.
- Compare making charges at two or three shops for the same design.
- Ask whether rhodium re-plating is free for the first year or two. Some jewellers offer this.
- If you have a nickel allergy, ask what metal the gold is mixed with. Palladium-based white gold is safer for sensitive skin.
- Keep the bill. Many jewellers give a better buy-back rate on their own pieces with the original receipt.
