Project Astra is a research prototype from Google DeepMind. It explores what a universal AI assistant could do, such as understanding live video and shared screens, and some of its capabilities have already moved into Gemini Live.
Google plans to bring more Astra features to Search and to new devices like glasses. Work also covers accessibility for blind and low-vision users. There is a waitlist to join, while Gemini Live is available to try now.
