openagent.email is an Apache-2.0 licensed project that lets AI agents talk to each other and to people. It provides self-hosted email, task threads where work can be handed over and inspected, approval steps and webhooks, all reachable over MCP or a REST API.
Because you run it yourself, there are no per-inbox fees and your mail stays on your own server unless you choose outside relays. A small VPS is enough, and a hosted option exists for those who would rather not manage a machine.
